Los Angeles fashion designer, Kimberly Ovitz's, firsts jewelry line, will makes its debut during her runway show for NYFW, on February 7th.. and the designer is going high tech, the collection being created in 3-D printings in lightweight nylon. Ovitz was inspired by the idea of natural defenses, an exoskeleton, and brought it to the world's leading 3-D Printing marketplace and community, Shapeways. The six pieces are organic and will mold your body like armor. The collection contains a collar, rings, ear cuffs and bracelets, in black, gray, or blue nylon, or stainless steel. The designs will be available online after her Fashion Show, with prices going from 50$ to 150$ for the nylon products and from 400$ to 500$ for the stainless steel versions. Fun fact: The nylon designs are first produced on white nylon and then dyed in one of the four colors. Also, with Shapeways, the designer can digitally manipulate the materials in ways that are not possible using traditional design processes.
